This past weekend my boyfriend Steve and I went to see Bombay Beach at the Tribeca Film Festival. Steve’s cousin Joe Linquidst is actually the editor of the film and we are super excited for him because the film won the documentary category! So excited for Joey and his director Alma Har’el!
Bombay Beach follows the lives of three protagonists who live in Bombay Beach, one of the poorest communities in Southern California, located along the Salton Sea. Benny Parish is a young boy diagnosed with bipolar disorder, CeeJay Thompson is a black teenager and aspiring football player and Red, the old man in town who lives off of whiskey and cigarettes. Through these characters one will witness the hardships and joys of life.
It’s a great doc, when it comes to Netflix you have to check it out!
After watching the film we went for a walk around town and ended up on the High Line! The High Line is an elevated park that runs from Gansevoort St. in the Meat Packing to W. 34th along 11th Ave. The park was originally used for freight trains back in the 1930s and was opened as a public park in 2009. The architecture along the High Line is really nice. I love the way the concrete pathways alternate with beautifully plantings. There is also a lot of seating and great views of the city and of New Jersey.
Hope you like some photos my boyfriend snapped of me on the High Line!
Cheers to fashion, seeing the world and always having fun!
