Effortless Natural Makeup

skincare tips for dewy skin skincare tips for dewy skin

I always get so many skincare and makeup questions from you guys so I think this post is long overdue!  Below are some skincare tips and products I use and swear by!  Disclaimer:  I spend money on my skin.  I am the first to admit that I have a pricey skincare routine, but honestly, IT’S MY FACE!  If you’re going to spend money on anything, you should spend money on your face.  At least that’s what I tell myself.  Also, the products I use last forever!!  All of the products listed below are ones that I use and love.  I have tried so many products and these are the ones I use on rotation ( I like to switch them up!) and would recommend to anyone and everyone.

About my skin: It’s a combination but tends to be a bit on the drier side.  I blame living in Southern California for my dry skin.  I determine products I loved based on efficiency and usability.  Also, I am very sensitive to smells.  I prefer non scented products on my face.

Okay!  here goes!

My 4 tips for Skincare are:

  1. Drink a lot of water.  Hydration is key!  You can moisturize all you want but you still need to hydrate from within.
  2. Don’t eat dairy.  This is specific to me, but dairy kills my skin.  I break out whenever I’ve been eating dairy for a while and I know many women feel the same way.
  3. Don’t pick your skin! My biggest regret!  I have some acne scars from picking my skin and they drive me nuts.
  4. Stay out of the sun!  I mean this seems like common sense but I love a good tan!  I try to wear hats when I am at the beach or shade my face in some way.
  5. Goop Glow!  I love this supplement!  I am terrible at taking vitamins and supplements but this is one I never forget.  It tastes delicious, is the perfect start to my morning and it really works!

My Favorite Skincare products:

Facial Cleanser: The Face Shop Rich Cleansing Oil, Goop Luminous Melting Cleanser, Kate Somerville Daily Gentle Cleanser (Love all of these products.  They all cleanse your face while simultaneously taking off all of your makeup.  I do not need eye makeup remover when I use them!  If you’re thinking of trying one, I’d go for the Kate Somerville because it’s so great for all skin types and is very low-maintenance!)

Moisturizer: Decorté Environmental Day Cream (it’s seriously the most amazing day cream), Goop Replenishing Night Cream (love how hydrating this is for night time), Kate Somerville Goat’s Milk (love this one too!), Garnier Brightening & Smoothing Daily Moisturizer (I keep this moisturize in my car and have one in my gym bag as well!  It’s not as rich as some of the other ones I use but it’s definitely effective.  I love that it has SPF in it too!)

Serums/Oils: Biossance Squalene Oil (my newest obsession – I use it every. single. day. on my face and my body.  I combine it with my body moisturizer (from Trader Joes lol) and rub it all over), Mad Hippie Vitamin C Oil for Daytime and Mad Hippie Vitamin A Oil for Nightime, Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Masks: Peter Thomas Roth Acne Sulfur Mask (SWEAR BY THIS.  It seriously helps get rid of pimples overnight!),  Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask (I used to exfoliate ALL the time but it was drying out my skin so I got rid of all of my exfoliators and especially the cleansers that also exfoliated.  Now, if I want to exfoliate I use this mask), Dia-Goat Milk Mask (hydrating AF).

The above photos were taken my first full day in Paris.  Yes, I did have that morning light helping me in these photos, but also my skin and face felt amazing and I loved my makeup.  This was after almost 18 hours of travel and then a full day of walking around Paris in the rain.  AKA my skin, body and mind were all exhausted.  I have learned how important it is to hydrate your skin when your flying so this time I was prepared.  On my overnight flight to Paris, I used the Kiehl’s Midnight recovery concentrate.  It’s like liquid gold!  I arrived in Paris around 11 am so that night I also did a face mask and used this Goat’s Milk Mask.  I think the combo left my skin extra hydrated which is what I desperately needed.

Natural Makeup Look

My makeup is super simple but I love the natural dewy look.  As much as I love a bold cat eye and some major glam, I love this effortless everyday look just as much, if not more.

I linked all the products I used below and their pretty straightforward, but a few things to point out.

This Armani primer is incredible.  It creates such a natural, soft and dewy base.  It smooths everything out and is not oily at all.  I also love that it has SPF 50.  Whenever I wear makeup I never put additional sunscreen on my face so knowing that it’s included in my primer comforts me.

I couldn’t recommend the Urban Decay Brow Pencil more.  I use the warm brown color and love it.  The brush is also sturdy and does not break.  I used to use the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz and while I loved the pencil part, the brush broke every single time!  Ugh, still mad about it.  I posted about this on Insta Stories once and received over 20 messages from people saying the same thing happened to them.

I also LOVE this Makeup Forever Palette – it has contour, highlight, and the prettiest blush color.  I love how creamy all the colors are and how easily they blend together.  If you are a contouring novice, this palette is for you!

My eyeshadow and bronzer are both this Bobbi Brown bronzer.  I use this bronzer as an eyeshadow A LOT.  I love that it gives me a slight tint but isn’t too overpowering.  I also love the matte bronzer on my face, duh!

I started using this NYX Dewy Finishing Spray and I couldn’t recommend it more!

Lastly, is my ride or die, my one must have beauty product.  Can you guess it?! Haha! If you follow me on Instagram you already know that I am OBSESSED with Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk.  I honestly think it’s the best lip liner in existence. In the photos above I used it lightly across my lips.  There are days where I make my lips look double the size!  It’s all in the liner.

Hope you loved this beauty and skincare post!  If you want to see more like this, let me know in the comments below!
