Scenes from Carmel & Big Sur

Last week Steve and I spent a few days in Carmel & Big Sur and had the best time. The area is so insanely naturally beautiful. I mean, everywhere I turned I was in awe! We were in the area for a wedding but spent some time exploring so I wanted to share a few things I loved doing as well some recs.

We stayed at Bernardus Lodge & Spa in Carmel Valley and oh my goodness this place is incredible. From the second you step foot on the property you feel like you’re on vacation. The Lucia Restaurant and Bar is delicious and I highly recommend the Bernardus Sauvignon Blanc that is made on the property.

My only regret was not spending more time at the hotel because it was so beautiful that I could have spent all day lounging. Already planning our next trip to do just that.

In Carmel Valley,

we spent time driving through the rolling hills, visiting wine tasting rooms and celebrated our friend’s wedding at The Holly Farm which was a gorgeous venue!! Joyce was probably our favorite wine tasting room because the server behind the bar was extra cute!!!!

In Carmel-By-The-Sea

We ate breakfast at the Village Corner twice in a row it was that good. Get the egg benedict!! The entire area is so idyllic you can just roam around the streets and shops all day and then make your way down to the water for spectacular views. Steve and I also did the 17-mile drive scenic route which starts in Carmel, takes you through Pebble Beach and then into Monterey.

We took the PCH home through Big Sur

and though the coastal route adds about 1-2 hours onto the drive, it is well worth it. Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to live in such a beautiful place, and well, this drive was a great reminder.

One of my favorite parts of the drive home is stopping to see the Elephant Seals in Piedras Blancas. The seals are so so so funny. The way they just lay there kicking sand onto their bodies cracks me up and the best is watching them shimmy their way out of the water.

Did you ever do this trip?! Leave some recommendations in the comments so others can add them when planning their getaway!!!

xoxo Kristina
