Land’s End Trail
San Francisco was such a blast and the perfect weekend trip from Los Angeles. Steve and I drove up to San Francisco for Valentine’s Day Weekend and stayed at Hotel G in Union Square. The boutique hotel is in a centralized area of the city and is very charming. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a walkway of plants which if you follow me on snapchat or instagram, you know I am a serious plant slut, so obviously, I was automatically obsessed. The hotel is very mid-century modern inspired yet has an industrial feel as well. Is it normal to want to steal furniture out of your hotel room? Our room was on the 12th floor and had concrete floors, the most comfortable bed and incredible views of the city. It was charming, cozy and in the perfect location- what more can a girl ask for? OH, the robes. Great robes. Since Steve and I were only in San Francisco for the weekend, there was a lot we wanted to do but didn’t have much time. I was very thankful that Matt, from Hotel G, helped me plan an itinerary to get the most out of our short stay.
WHAT WE DID IN SAN FRANCISCO
We drove to San Francisco from LA and the ride should take 5 1/2 hours. Well, it took us over 7 and we were not happy about it. There was an insane amount of traffic getting into the city so instead of checking into our hotel we headed straight to Lands End. We hiked along the Lands End Trail which is a beautiful coastline trail with views of the rocky seas. If you hike the whole trail you are rewarded with sweeping sights of the Golden Gate Bridge. It’s really beautiful. We hiked around 4:00 pm and the light was just perfect. From one side of the trail, you feel like you are in Big Sur and then on the other side you see the bridge. It was great. My only regret is not checking out the Sutro Baths! I wanted to see them but didn’t realize they were so close to where we were! Ugh. Next time!
That night we walked from Hotel G to Little Italy. It was a pleasant walk and I was in 4″ heels and did it without a problem. Special thanks to the hotel staff for guiding us to the hill-less route. Little Italy in the North Beach region is SO FREAKING CHARMING. We were actually on our way to a highly regarded Mexican restaurant and then my boyfriend saw a sign that said “Calzones.” Steve is VERY health conscious. I mean, look at his instagram. So the fact that he wanted a calzone so badly was hilarious to me and I couldn’t say no. The food was terrible. But we were sitting outside and it was a beautiful evening AND we were serenaded so that made up for it.
The next day we ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant called 398 Brasserie and it was delicious. I had huevos rancheros and I highly recommend them! After breakfast, we went to explore the Mission District and spent some time in Dolores Park. The park is amazing! It had spectacular views of the city and is the perfect place to lounge around. I thought it was really interesting because there were families with kids on one side of us and then people smoking out of bongs on the other.
After the park, we went to Dottie’s for a double brunch date with some friends, then hopped on a cable car and spent the rest of the afternoon in Fisherman’s Wharf. For our Valentine’s dinner, we went to one of my favorite restaurants, The Slanted Door. IT IS SO DELICIOUS!!!
To end a perfect day, we decided to order couples massages to our room. We were so excited about it and downloaded the app Soothe which is an on-demand massage service. To make a long story short, we ordered the couples massage, waited, an hour and a half and then no one ever showed up. Such a bummer.
I loved exploring San Francisco and I want to go back soon to see more of the city. Do you guys have any favorite spots? If so, please let me know!!
Cheers to fashion, seeing the world and always having fun!
