On Saturday, October 18, 2014 my sister and I spent the evening in the Mojave Desert at the RiSE Festival. When I first came across RiSE photos on instagram I knew I had to experience it first hand and I am so grateful that I got to experience it with my sister. The whole night was truly incredible and magical to say the least. When we took our shuttles and finally got to the site where the lantern festival was held, we were greeted with note cards and markers to decorate our lanterns. This was my favorite part of the night. Decorating your lantern with meaningful and inspirational messages and then lighting it and watching it take flight into the dark night sky was awing. I struggled a bit with my lantern and the fire made a hole. I was so bummed because everyone said it wouldn’t fly since there was a hole and I just spent an hour decorating it. I was determined and finally it did light and fly fly away. Never give up people! I obviously cried when it took off. Every part of the night was perfect for me and it started with a ridiculously beautiful double rainbow! I mean is that not perfection or what. Hope you like my photos and videos! I wish I took more but I was actually trying to enjoy the experience and be present instead of snap snap snapping away.
