Welcome to Nikolas’ Nursery! When dreaming up this space I knew I wanted a room that felt sweet and childlike but also elevated and sophisticated. I wanted to create a peaceful little sanctuary where my baby boy can grow and play, and I am so happy with the result! I reached out to Pottery Barn Kids asking if they would be interested in collaborating on the room and they said “yes!” You have no idea how happy I was; how happy I am. Pottery Barn Kids was an absolute dream to work with and I am still pinching myself!
The room details
The first piece I selected was the Rory Crib. I looked at hundreds of cribs and I kept coming back to the Rory. I love how classic it is. I also got the conversion kit so I can transform the crib into a toddler’s bed when Nikolas gets older. For his dresser I went with the matching Rory Dresser with the Topper Set. Something I love about Pottery Barn Kids is their commitment to sustainability and that most of their products are GREENGUARD Gold Certified, which means those products are screened for more than 10,000 chemicals and VOCs that are know to pollute indoor air. So major.
The next piece of furniture I selected was the chair, which let me tell you, was the best decision I made. We are all obsessed with the chair. It is the Paxton Swivel Glider & Recliner and it is so so good. It looks super cute in the space, is GREENGUARD Gold Certified and is INCREDIBLY comfortable. Honestly, I did not realize how important a good chair was or that I’d spend half my day in it, haha.
I actually consulted with a few friends before I selected it because I was going to go with a rocker instead (for aesthetic reasons) but all my friends with babies said, “TRUST ME, you’re going to want a glider and recliner,” and they were right. My favorite element is how high the back is which is something you should definitely consider when looking for a chair. You want to be able to comfortably rest your head. We joke that the Nursery is “Steve’s Office” because when the baby isn’t in it, he takes all his calls from the chair, haha. He loves it too.
When it comes to nursery decor I knew I wanted to incorporate animals and have a sweet safari theme but I also loved the stars and moon decor on Pottery Barn Kids, so I decided to go with a “Starry Night Safari” theme. The star mobile and moon shelf mixed with the baby animal prints just makes me so happy. It’s so sweet and cute! I found these prints on Etsy that were so perfect with the Starry Night Safari I couldn’t believe it!
I also incorporated gold and brass elements to help dress up the room. The mirror, lamp and curtain hardware add the perfect touch! I cannot say enough good things about these curtains. I never had blackout curtains in my life because personally they’re too much for me, BUT, every article I read about getting your baby to sleep through the night suggested black out curtains. The ones we we went with are so beautiful! I also went with Silver Rope Collection for the hamper, toy chest and changing table storage. Those pieces are all handcrafted and I love the juxtaposition of gold elements with the silver touch.
From feeding and changing Nikolas, to story time and bedtime, I spend so much time in this room and it makes me happy every time I walk in. So excited to continue making memories here!
I hope you love the nursery as much as I do!!! I linked everything below and leave a comment if you have any questions.
