Farmer’s Market Bag – So cute & only $7.00 !! Win Win!

Two weeks ago I made a declaration on here that I would be eating healthier and working out more consistently.   I shared the three ways I am motivating myself to get in shape and guess what, they’re still working!  Although I have been doing better, working out 5x a week and eating well, I had my slip ups.

I want to share the good and the bad with you because I certainly am not perfect and I think it’s important to admit your slip ups.

Like last weekend, I said I wasn’t going to eat carbs and then ate pasta and half a watermelon.

Let me tell you, it was the most delicious watermelon, I added some feta, in hopes that would transport me to the Greek isles, but it didn’t, and after the watermelon, I could not move.   You’re probably like, “so what? It’s just a watermelon!”  But it wasn’t.  It was HALF A FREAKING ENORMOUS WATERMELON that I added ALL the feta too.  Did I mention the watermelon followed the pasta?  I had to go to my friends birthday shortly after, and I could barely drink a sip of wine because there was no room left in my belly.

I also caved one night and had two slices of pizza.

Which weren’t even good!!!!!

Ugh.  I was pissed at myself for that.  Stupid LA wannabe NY pizza.  Damnit.

There were other slip ups but overall I ate pretty clean, and I am proud of myself for that!

I think it’s so important to notice your progress and pat yourself on the back, but it may be even more important to admit your faults.  Like why did I stop to get that fast food? Or binge on ice cream? Or whatever it is that you did.  You did it.  And you can’t take it back, but you can pay attention to the reason you did what you did and try not to repeat it.

That’s my plan at least.

ANYWAYSSSSSSS,  I am starting a new “diet” today that isn’t a diet but a new way of eating and every time I do it I drop the lbs very quickly, so I figured, sharing is caring.

It’s a carb rotation diet.

You eat 4-5 small meals a day that are high protein, low fat and rotate your carbs.  For instance, on day 1, you eat three carb meals, on day 2, you eat two carb meals, and on day three you eat no carb meals, and then back to 3 carb meals.  This tricks your body into thinking it’s getting carbs on the off days when it’s really not, allowing your metabolism to speed up while dieting.

I would like to note that I am not a nutritionist but Steve, my fiance is and he wrote this meal plan for me.  BTW, for those of you that are thinking if her fiance is a nutritionist and in such good shape, why isn’t she?  Well, screw you! (JK, LOVE YA).  But seriously,  I ask myself the same thing all the time.  Two words for you: will power.

Here is a 3-day sample menu of what I will be eating.

Day 1

Meal 1:  3 egg whites, oatmeal (try to avoid adding honey, Kristina!!!), tbsp. Peanut butter

Meal 2: 1 1/2 chicken tenders with brown rice

Meal 3: Can of tuna and brown rice (add veggies, olive oil, salt, pepper, don’t even think about Mayo)

Meal 4: 1 1/2 chicken tenders with side salad

Meal 5: Shrimp (3 ounces) with salad

Day 2

Meal 1: 3 egg whites, oatmeal, tbsp. Peanut butter

Meal 2: turkey burger (3 ounces) with sweet potato

Meal 3: 1 1/2 chicken tenders with side salad

Meal 4: salmon (3 ounces) with salad

Meal 5: 1 1/2 chicken tenders

Day 3

Meal 1: 3 egg whites (maybe let a little egg yolk slip in there)

Meal 2: ground beef (3 ounces) with peppers and onions

Meal 3: salad with lots of veggies and you guessed it! 1 1/2 chicken tenders

Meal 4: 1 1/2 chicken tenders

Meal 5: white fish (3 ounces) with veggies

You can eat whatever you want! It’s a paleo diet, so you do you, the only thing you need to change is the carb rotation.   You’re eating so much food that it never feels like you’re dieting! However, no carb days can be challenging, and it does take a lot of preparation.  If you’re working in an office 9-5 you’re probably like when the hell am I going to cook all this food, let alone eat?! You should definitely prep your meals and bring them with you.  It’s not glamorous.  But, it works!

I would love to know if any of you ever tried this carb rotation diet before and if so, did it work?  Do you have any amazing paleo recipes you want to share?! Leave a comment so we can all benefit!!
