Arenal Region, Costa RicaThis August my family took a vacation to Costa Rica. I’ve wanted to travel to the country for years and was ecstatic when I found out that would be our destination. We split the trip into two different parts: volcano & beach.
For the first half of our trip we traveled to Arenal Volcano, located in the north western part of Costa Rica. It is an active volcano in the La Fortuna district and it is incredibly gorgeous!
It was by far one of my favorite family vacations because there was just so much to do. We were only in the region for a few days and limited our excursions to zip-lining through the jungle and rappelling down waterfalls. A total adventure, what not to love?!
In the area you can also go hiking, horseback riding, cycling, rafting and much more. This is a great vacation if you want to be active but if you prefer to relax with a book and a massage..or two, you’ve also come to the right area. There are several beautiful hotels and spas in the area with natural hot springs and luscious greens and colorful fauna. And of course, FOOD. The area is known for it’s steak and tilapia so dig in!
