The 3 Jackets Every Guy Needs this Fall

3 jackets every guy needs: leather, bomber and blazer

Fall is quickly approaching and as the season changes there’s more than pumpkin spice lattes to look forward to.  Nothing makes an impression quite like outerwear and there are 3 jackets every needs this fall to complete their wardrobe.

You need a leather, a bomber and a statement blazer.

I decided to get down and dirty and model a few of my favorite men’s jackets. Continue on to see my favorite picks!

LEATHER JACKET1. BLK DNM, 2. John Varvatos, 3. Topman, 4. BLK DNM

Everyone should have a good leather jacket in their wardrobe.  It instantaneously makes every outfit a bit cooler.  Wear on the weekend with jeans and a tee or during the week over your sweater and work slacks.  If you don’t think you can pull off the moto style then you might be right.  Too harsh?  Sorry, but it’s really not for everyone.  I love a great motorcycle jacket but I really don’t think it’s for everyone.  If you’re not comfortable in that style opt for a classic style like the John Varavtos shown above.  I also think there are great mixed media leather jackets like this Vince one.

THE STATEMENT SPORTCOAT

1.Ted Baker, 2. The Kooples, 3. Topman, 4. The Kooples

There is nothing sexier than a man that knows how to play dress up.

Whether it’s a business meeting, a dinner date or a special event, a tailored sport coat goes a long way.  You really need to pay attention to fit because a jacket too large always looks sloppy and a jacket too small, well, looks too small.  I’ve heard my clients say, “well I probably wont be buttoning it…” an excuses to get the smaller size that clearly doesn’t fit.  Even if you do not want to button the jacket, you definitely should be able to!  I suggest first making sure the jacket fits snugly yet comfortably on your shoulders and then let a tailor take in the waist and back if needed.  When purchasing a sport coat this season shoot for something different.  I love the colors of the aubergine Kooples jacket (actually obsessssed) and the teal Topman jacket.  Although not your typical sport coat colors, they are both great neutrals that can be mixed and matched easily.  If you aren’t feeling bold enough to try an off color, shoot for a navy or black jacket with some extra detailing.

1. The Kooples, 2. Vince, 3. Topman, 4. GStar RAW, 5. Paul Smith

The perfect everyday jacket to wear with anything!  I love this casual cool style because it is so effortless.  Although you want your jacket to look trim, it does not need to be as fitted.  This style is more about ease, comfort and should be a no brainer choice when you are leaving your house in the am.

Do you have these 3 jackets for your fall wardrobe?  Do you know how to style them?  I am so excited to start create more menswear posts so please let me know if there are any style questions you have for me!

Cheers to fashion, seeing the world and always having fun!
