Hats for Guys

Time to tackle my favorite accessory.  Hats for guys! You are a grown man and you want to wear a hat.  Now what?

I’ve come across several articles that claim that you need to throw your fedora out the door and although I do agree, there’s some fine print rules we should discuss.  BUT, before I even get to the fedoras, we have a bigger issue to tackle.  If you have a hat that has a Rooster on it that says “COCK” (see here), and you are wearing it any other time than Halloween as part of a costume, stop that right now.

Most people see it and they laugh, but are they laughing with you or at you?  I believe it’s the latter, so unless its the early 2000s and you are hanging out with Tara Reid, kiss those sad boys good bye.

So glad I got that off my chest.  Now, it’s time to elevate your style!  When it comes to fedoras I think they actually look great on a lot of guys but they have to be the wide brim fedora kind!

Do you see the difference?  The wide brim fedora is actually really cool and when worn correctly adds a nice touch to an outfit.  How do you style it?  You can wear it countless ways but you really do need to have confidence otherwise you’ll look like an a-hole who is trying too hard.  I like this Complex article that gives some advice on how to wear a hat as a grown man.  Below are some fedora style looks to inspire you!

Still not sure if you can pull off the look but want to wear a hat?  You really can’t go wrong with a good ol’ cap.  The look is timeless and cool.  I suggest sticking to hats that have no labels on them.  No roosters (although we already addressed that), no team names, just keep it simple and classy that way you can wear it with everything.

A hat should be worn to compliment an outfit, not distract from it!
